Former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir has thrown fuel on the fire. The bowler took to X (formerly Twitter), posting a photo with Virat Kohli and calling him the "best human being.
" The image, a throwback from the 2016 T20 World Cup at Eden Gardens—where Kohli gifted Amir a bat—carries weight beyond nostalgia.
“One thing is for sure, Virat is the best player and best human being in Indian cricket history. Respect,” Amir wrote.
While many see it as a heartfelt tribute to Virat Kohli, others interpret it as a not-so-subtle jab at the current Indian squad, especially in light of the ongoing handshake controversy.

High Stakes and Higher Tensions as India-Pakistan Rematch Looms
India and Pakistan are gearing up for another explosive clash in the Super 4s of the Asia Cup, with all eyes on the Dubai International Stadium this Sunday. Emotions are already running high after the heated group-stage encounter on September 14.
The Indian team’s decision to skip the handshake with Pakistan during their Asia Cup clash quickly snowballed into controversy. Following the match, Pakistan captain Salman Agha stormed off, refusing to attend the post-match presentation.. The PCB then blamed match referee Andy Pycroft, alleging he instructed both captains not to shake hands at the toss.

Taking it a step further, the PCB fired off two strongly-worded emails to the ICC, demanding Pycroft’s removal and even hinting at a possible withdrawal from the tournament. However, in a firm and clear response, the ICC rejected Pakistan’s request on both occasions, backing the referee and effectively shutting down the complaint.
With Amir old tweet being in the spotlight, the match certainly got more exciting as both the arch-rivals will meet at Dubai.
