Glenn Maxwell fined for breach of conduct by BCCI

Punjab Kings (PBKS) all-rounder Glenn Maxwell was fined 25 percent of his match fees and handed one demerit point in the match between PBKS and CSK in Mullanpur on Tuesday, April 8.

CSK lost the match by 18 runs and succumbed to their fourth defeat of the season in five games. Meanwhile, this was the third win for PBKS in four games. Their only loss so far came against RCB in Mullanpur.

Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad have lost four games so far in IPL 2025, the most among all the teams. CSK, especially, has been hit by a lack of form from their batters and the batting conundrum concerning MS Dhoni. MI and SRH have also been found wanting with the bat.

Glenn Maxwell Became The Sixth Player To Breach BCCI's Code Of Conduct In IPL 2025

Meanwhile, Glenn Maxwell became the sixth player to be sanctioned by the BCCI for breach of conduct. Ishant Sharma was the most recent player to be found guilty by the BCCI in terms of code of conduct.

Though BCCI has not clarified the exact offense by Glenn Maxwell,  it confirmed that Maxwell admitted to committing a Level 1 offense under Article 2.2 of the IPL Code of Conduct. The rule pertains to a player abusing the cricket equipment, clothing or ground equipment.

"Article 2.2 includes any action(s) outside the course of normal cricket actions, such as hitting or kicking the wickets and any action(s) which deliberately (i.e. intentionally), recklessly or negligently (in either case even if accidental) results in damage to the advertising boards, boundary fences, dressing room doors, mirrors, windows and other fixtures and fittings. For example, this offence may be committed, without limitation, when a Player swings his/her bat vigorously in frustration and causes damage to an advertising board," the article states.
