IPL 2025 - Nicholas Pooran is on Top of the Orange Cap Leaderboard

The Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025) is delivering non-stop drama with electrifying performances keeping fans on the edge of their seats. As teams battle for supremacy, the individual races for the Orange Cap (most runs) and Purple Cap (most wickets) are also heating up.

Lucknow Super Giants’ Nicholas Pooran is wearing the Orange Cap currently, while the Purple Cap is in possession of Chennai Super Kings’ Noor Ahmad. Here is the latest from the leaderboards and emerging threats as of Monday, April 14.

Orange Cap Leaderboard: Nicholas Pooran in the Lead

Pooran remains the man to beat in the race for the IPL 2025 Orange Cap, topping the run-getters with 357 runs in seven matches. His blistering strike rate of 208.77, powered by four fifties and a match-defining 61 runs off 34 balls against Gujarat Titans (GT), has kept him firmly in the lead.

Pooran’s ability to dominate both spin and pace has made him a nightmare for bowlers. Not far behind is Gujarat Titans’ opener Sai Sudharsan with 329 runs. Sudharsan’s steady contributions, including a 56 runs off 37 balls in his last outing versus LSG, have kept him in the top two.

LSG’s Mitchell Marsh holds third place with 295 runs, while Punjab Kings (PBKS) captain Shreyas Iyer is at the fourth spot with 250 runs in five innings. Virat Kohli, who plays for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), rounds out the top five, having scored 248 runs in six matches so far.

Purple Cap Leaderboard: Noor Ahmad Tops the List

In the bowling department, Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) left-arm wrist-spinner Noor remains on the top of the IPL 2025 Purple Cap leaderboard with 12 wickets in seven matches. His economy rate of 7.13 and a best of 4 wickets for 18 runs against Mumbai Indians (MI) highlight his ability to choke runs and break partnerships.

Even in a rare wicketless outing (4-0-13-0) against LSG, Noor’s control was evident, keeping the pressure on a dangerous batting lineup. His variations, including the googly and quick sliders, have bamboozled batters consistently.

Mumbai Indians’ captain Hardik Pandya, with 10 wickets, is among a tight group that includes Delhi Capitals’ Kuldeep Yadav (DC), Gujarat Titans’ Prasidh Krishna, R. Sai Kishore, and Mohammed Siraj.
