The 18th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) has been suspended following heightened military tensions between India and Pakistan. The former gave a fitting reply with 'Operation Sindoor' in response to the latter's cowardly terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, on April 22, which killed 26 innocent lives. The BCCI today, on May 09, announced that the IPL 2025 season is suspended for a week, and they will duly decide on a further schedule once they have assessed the current situation.
Notably, the BCCI and IPL Governing Body's decision came after the Punjab Kings vs Delhi Capitals game in Dharamshala was abandoned due to air raid alerts in nearby regions of Jammu & Pathankot. Spectators as well as players were swiftly evacuated from the HPCA Stadium amid fears of a possible terror attack. So far, 58 games have been completed in the IPL 2025 season. There are only 12 league fixtures left with four playoff spots up for grabs.

Who is in contention to make the IPL 2025 playoffs?
Currently, GT is leading the IPL 2025 Points Table, with 16 points from 11 games. RCB follows them next with 16 points from 11 games, with a lower net run rate than GT's 0.793. PBKS occupies the third spot with 16 points from 12 games, with an NRR of +0.376. MI rounds out the top-four spots with 14 points from 12 matches with a positive NRR of +1.156.

Apart from these top four teams, even DC, KKR, and LSG are still in contention to make the playoffs. However, KKR are only in with a slight mathematical chance, as they have 11 points from 12 games played. LSG has 10 points from 11 games and needs to win all three of their games left to stand a chance of the playoffs. Meanwhile, DC is placed fifth on the points table with 14 points from 12 games. A win in both their matches should seal a playoff spot.

CSK, RR, and SRH are the three teams to be eliminated from the IPL 2025 playoff race. However, all three teams can poop the parties of the teams in contention for the playoffs.
