The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) team announced on Tuesday, April 15 Smaran Ravichandran as the replacement player for leg spinner Adam Zampa. The Aussie was ruled out of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) season due to a shoulder injury. The 21-year-old Karnataka player joins the SRH squad for a base price of INR 30 lakhs.

Know Smaran Ravichandran's early struggles

Every cricketer is not lucky enough to get selected in one go. Some face several hardships and struggles. Smaran was one of them to face multiple challenges before finally finding a breakthrough in the CK Nayudu Trophy. The 21-year-old grabbed his chance with both hands and plundered 829 runs to make waves in the cricketing circle. Later, the Karnataka player showed his class in the Maharaja T20 Tournament.

Playing for Gulbarga Mystics in the 2024 season, the southpaw scored 302 runs in just nine innings at an average of 43.14. After impressing one and all with his terrific consistency at junior levels, Smaran made his debut for Karnataka in the 2024-25 season. He made his debut season count as he racked up 516 runs at an average of 64.50. The 21-year-old boasts of a terrific average of 72.16 in 10 List A games and 34 in six T20 matches for Karnataka.

Speaking about SRH, last year's finalists finally managed to snap their four-match losing streak by winning the game against PBKS. Their fearsome batting lineup finally rose to the challenge while chasing a daunting score of 246 runs to set up the win. However, SRH is placed ninth on the points table and will be hoping to find momentum and consistency after their win against PBKS in the IPL 2025 seaosn.
