West Indies will take on Australia in the fifth and final T20I on Tuesday, July 29. It's been a bitterly disappointing series so far for the hosts, who have not managed to win even a single T20I. Usually, the shortest format is the one where the Caribbean side takes a lot of pride in playing well. But in the ongoing series, they have so far cut a sorry figure with bat as well as ball in hand.
On the other hand, the Aussies yet again are proving why they are a champion side, in any format. They landed on the Caribbean shores on the back of a heavy five-wicket loss in the WTC 2025 Final against South Africa. However, after that setback, the Australians have simply dominated the West Indies in Tests as well as T20Is. A lot of fresh players like Mitchell Owen, Josh Inglis, and Ben Dwarshuis have performed superbly in T20Is. Owen has proven why he is rated so highly in the Australian circuit by striking above 180.
WI vs AUS: Match Preview
The visitors will be mighty pleased with the form of all-rounder Cameron Green and Tim David. The former has scored three fifties and has cemented his place at number four. While the latter has turned a corner by mixing power hitting and adding consistency to his game. The finisher scored a breathtaking 37-ball hundred - fastest by an Australian and made West Indies bowlers feel like amateurs. The bowling has also looked solid for the visitors, especially the death bowling.
They have not allowed the hosts to finish the game well. Sean Abbott, Adam Zampa, and Dwarshus have been superb. Despite missing quite a few senior players, the Aussies have still managed to dominate. Meanwhile, the West Indies have tried everything to at least get a win past the visitors, but have failed miserably. Bowling has been a complete letdown, as none of the bowlers have managed to put consistent pressure on the visitors' batting lineup.
Even a total above 215 has easily been chased down by Australia with minimum fuss. With only a game to go, the hosts would be desperately hoping to put in a good performance with the ball in hand.
