Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) batter Aniker Verma has managed to hog the limelight ahead of their crucial game against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Chepauk on Friday, April 25.
SRH played their last game on April 23 and lost against the Mumbai Indians. Both teams are placed at the bottom of the table, and hence, this is a must-win match for both teams.
The SRH batters, much like the CSK batters, are struggling at the halfway point of the tournament. SRH has been a top-heavy batting unit, with Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head scoring almost 70 percent of the runs this season so far.

While the focus has been on both of them, Aniket Verma has been silently doing the hard yards in the training session. So far this season, he has scored 171 runs in 8 matches and has hit 14 sixes. He is the only SRH batter in the list of top six hitters this season.

Aniket has given the side stability and power with the bat when his team needed it the most. Ahead of the crucial game against CSK, SRH skipper Pat Cummins had a word of encouragement for the youngster.
"He really impressed us in the warm-up matches and in the training. I think just the way he goes out no matter the game situation and tries and hit sixes. And that's what he's done. He takes on spin, and it's just that freedom that he's brought to his game. He's only played a few games as of now, but he's been really impressive. He's striking beautifully," Cummins said on JioHotstar's special series.

SRH picked him up for 30 lakhs in the IPL 2025 mega auction after seeing him hit a lot of sixes in the Madhya Pradesh League. Playing for the Bhopal Leopards, Aniket scored 273 runs from six innings at a staggering strike rate of 195.00. He has also maintained a strike rate of over 170 this season.
With the likes of Ishan Kishan and Nitish Kumar Reddy struggling in the middle order, SRH would bank on Aniket to hit a few lusty blows against CSK. A defeat for either of these teams in tonight's clash would end their hopes of making the playoffs.
