Rajasthan Royals (RR) got off to a solid start in pursuit of 218 run target against Gujarat Titans (GT) in the ongoing match 23 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season. Despite RR being rocked early in the mammoth run chase, skipper Sanju Samson and Riyan Parag took the attack to the opposition and showed intent in the power play as they raced to 57 for the loss of two wickets.
RR lost Yashasvi Jaiswal (6) runs and Nitish Rana (1) run cheaply, and at that moment it looked like GT opening new bowlers Mohammed Siraj and Arshad Khan would run through RR's batting lineup. However, Samson and Parag made their intentions clear and decided to pounce on any loose balls offered by GT bowlers. Parag, in particular, was more aggressive between him and Samson. However, just when the 23-year-old was about to tee off, he was sent packing by Khejroliya for a 14-ball (26) run.

Riyan Parag was not happy with decision by the on-field umpire as he thought the bat hit the ground before it took the outside edge.
Advantage GT as RR keep losing wickets
That wicket came in the seventh over, and that dismissal also titled the game in favor of GT. With spinners Sai Kishore and Rashid Khan still to bowl their full quota of their respective overs, GT certainly is in a better position to get their fourth win and maintain the top position in the points table. For RR, skipper Samson has to bat deep enough if they harbor hopes of chasing this target down.

RR are known to be good chasing sides in IPL, but chasing this total would require something magical at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. At the 10-over mark, RR are placed 85 for the loss of four wickets.
