As on the expected lines, on Friday morning, May 09 the 18th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) season was suspended for one week due to heightened political war-like situation between India and Pakistan. The BCCI and the IPL Governing body sprung into swift action when the Punjab Kings vs Delhi Capitals game was abandoned due to security issues.
As of now, the BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia's official statement, the IPL 2025 season is set to resume next week with a revised schedule and venues. Only 16 matches are left to be completed. If the current situation between India & Pakistan does not improve, then the remainder of the IPL 2025 season could be moved out of India. Over the league's history, we have seen IPL being played at neutral venues. The entire IPL 2009 season was conducted in South Africa due to the General Elections that year in India.

Also, the first half of IPL 2014 season was conducted in Abu Dhabi, and the entire IPL 2020 season was conducted in Dubai to Covid-19 pandemic situation. The second half of IPL 2021 event was also held in Dubai due to Covid-19 cases in bio-bubble in India that year.

1) South Africa
India always have relied on South Africa to bail out tricky situations, and why not since India were the first country to vouch for the African country's re-admission to cricket after their ban on apartheid was lifted. Over the years, these two teams have built a strong relationship, and always have each other's back. IPL 2009 was a case in point, where South Africa hosted the event fantastically well.
Another fact that goes in favor of the African side is all the owners of SA20 League are Indian owners. Also, the crowd support for Indians in South Africa is extremely high.

2) England
England has never had a chance to host IPL. However, things could change this time around as India might consider England as a potential venue for the remainder of IPL 2025 games. Cricketer-turned-expert Michael Vaughan gave a nice idea to conduct the rest of the 16 games of IPL in England before India begins their five-match tour on June 20.

3) Sri Lanka
Besides South Africa, India also has great relations with Sri Lanka, as it has always helped their neighbors whenever in need. The major advantage in hosting the remainder of IPL 2025 games in Sri Lanka is that the conditions will be pretty much similar to what India is used it. Also, the crowd support is great for the team in the island nation.
